A Caboose is the last carriage on a train, a rolling cabin where the railway workers of yesteryear used to eat, sleep, play cards and hang out. After seeing a derelict Caboose we decided this would make an excellent space to serve our food, which itself has made its own slow, smoky journey. In the spring of 2013 we set about building our own Caboose from the ground up. We rolled into Brick Lane 3 months later and have been here ever since.

Our menu is about pairing slow smoked meat with fresh flavour combinations that we feel complement this age-old way of cooking. British food for us means a sensibility for flavour balance and an openness towards global cuisine. We care deeply about the provenance of our meat and the welfare of the animals, as such all our meat is always ethically sourced, free range, and locally sourced wherever possible.

Our coffee is all roasted in-house and is always FAIR TRADE. We use a 66% Brazillian Santos & 33% Costa Rica Hacienda Aquiares blend. Our pork is from Dingley Dell Farm & our beef from Dedham Vale - both of which we have visited.

Our favourite thing about the Caboose is our private parties. We serve a special 3-course fixed menu to those hiring the Caboose. The cabin can seat a maximum of 11 comfortably. We have on occasion had up to 13 guests although we only recommend this if you REALLY know the rest of your party!

We try to keep the menu as fresh and varied as possible, You can find a sample menu in the 'Cabin Dining' tab of our FOOD section. (We DO cater for vegetarians, please enquire when you make the booking!) Once the booking is placed, we send over the fixed menu at the time to your party organiser. You make any choices & send it back over, simple as that!

The cost is £35 per head and it's BYOB. We put an ice chest by the door for you to put your drinks in so you can help yourselves. For those drinking alcohol on the night, we charge a nominal £5 corkage fee per person drinking. Once everyone's settled we batten down the hatches & the place is yours for the evening while we cook in front of you.

Be sure to let us know if it's a party or other special occasion you're having and we'll get a playlist sorted (or you can choose your own as we have spotify and a wireless sound system) and blow up the Balloons!

The Caboose team has catered for between 100-450 guests for numerous events. We are able to use our own kitchen and transport food over to you, or use your kitchen, although as we smoke all our food for 10-12 hours unless you have a smoker the first option might work best. We are also able to tow the Caboose to weddings, festivals & other events should you so wish. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch:
